Jawbone Live at the Perot Theatre

Jawbone is back on our historic stage for a fundraiser concert benefiting TRAHC and Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Have a rockin’ good time for great causes featuring the Pleasant Grove Showstoppers and special guest, Stateline Avenue Horns! Learn more.

2019 Great Texarkana Duck Race

At Holiday Springs Water Park from 9-10:45 a.m. The 2019 Great Texarkana Duck Race will benefit cardiovascular services at the CHRISTUS St. Michael CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System. Ducks can be adopted for a donation of $5 each, or you can adopt five ducks and receive a sixth duck free for a donation of $25. Adoptions will be available online at www.christusstmichaelfoundation.org starting now until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, or by calling Duck Central at (903) 614-7223 until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16. 2020 Miss Texarkana Twin Rivers Scholarship Competition

10 a.m., Pleasant Grove High School Performing Arts Center. A rich community tradition continues as the 2020 Miss, Teen, and Little Miss Texarkana Twin Rivers are crowned! Learn more.

5. Saturday, Aug. 17
Fox Fan Fest 

Showcase for local football teams, bands and pep squads! Athletes from A&M Texarkana and their coaches will be highlighted along with dozens of exhibitors. Topping off the festivities is the Class of 2019 Hall of Fame induction Ceremony, with former athletes’ coaches and a fan being enshrined into the prestigious Fox Fan Fest Hall of Fame. The exhibit, athlete appearances and performances are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the Hall of Fame ceremony around 5 p.m. Learn more.

Women for A&M Texarkana 2019 Gourmet Brunch
Bring a friend and join the Women for A&M-Texarkana for the 2019 Gourmet Brunch!  Celebrity Chef Matthew McClure gives guests his take on “High South” Cuisine. Enjoy a brunch filled with local flavors and a cooking demonstration by Chef McClure all while supporting scholarships and university initiatives with other women passionate about the university. Plex in the Park: The Big Three at Spring Lake Park Stage. FREE event, open to everyone of all ages and fitness levels. There are three different fitness classes happening; pick the one that suits you best – or come to all three for a complete workout! This is cardio and strength training done in a very fun way, so bring a friend! Learn more.

Rebuilding Heroes: Lancer Legacy Ranch

Hosted by Oaklawn Rotary. TISD Food Services Bldg., 1600 Waterall, 12-1 p.m. Have lunch and hear from Matt Fisk, Executive Director of Lancer Legacy Ranch. Matt Fisk was born in De Queen, Arkansas and joined the Army in 1997.  As an enlisted infantryman, he deployed in support of Operation Noble Anvil during the Kosovo War of 1999. He earned a Combat Infantryman Badge during the Iraqi Shia uprising in 2004. In 2007, Matt commissioned as an ordnance officer, eventually retiring at the rank of captain. Matt holds a degree in Criminal Justice as well as being recognized as a Master Gardener in the Cypress Basin Master Gardener’s Club.  He is a Certified Peer Counselor with the state of Texas, trained to use his recovery story to assist in the healing of other veterans.  Learn more on the goTXK Community Calendar.
