Leading the Way: Ashley Barker

PGHS Assistant Principal Ashley Barker has been named to lead the way next year at PG’s Middle School, having just been named as Principal of the PG Middle School this July, taking over from retiring Principal Linda Erie (LT Class of 2005).  Ashley says she looks forward to serving the students, staff and community in this role.  PGISD Superintendent Chad Pirtle says, “We are very excited about the leadership Mrs. Barker will bring to Pleasant Grove Middle School.”  

Ashley began her career teaching third and fourth grade for the New Boston ISD but has been with the Pleasant Grove Independent School District for the 12 years since, during which she has taught third grade, fifth grade, and held positions as Pleasant Grove Elementary, Intermediate, and High School Assistant Principal.  Ashley is currently working on her doctorate in Education Administration from Texas A&M University – Commerce.   Barker​ graduated with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies from Lamar University in 2004; she earned her MS in Education Administration in 2008 from TAMU-T. Ashley Is married to Texas Department of Public Safety Officer Chris Barker (LT Class of 2019).
